Pixilate and Artist Lisa Stansbie will join forces with a local writer and digital artist to deliver a 6 week intensive workshop programme for residents, analysing the historical and technological role of Text in multicultural Bury. A digital animation reflecting this work, informed by participants on this programme, will be linked to this website from autumn 2009.
Lisa Stansbie is an artist and Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at the University of Huddersfield. She is currently undertaking a PhD at Leeds Metropolitan University entitled 'Multiplicity, encyclopaedic strategies and nonlinear methodologies for a visual practice'.
Stansbie has undertaken residencies and shown across Europe and in the U.S. In 2007 she created a fictional digital archive for The Harris Museum, Preston and produced a film piece for the group exhibition odoo/current in Ulanbaataar, Mongolia. Recent online pieces include work for three editions of www.slashseconds.org an online publishing project and also 'The Cloud Collector' (2007) an audio short story for the Canadian based 'Atlantic Basin Project'. Stansbie's films have been shown in The Athens Video Art Festival 2007 and Siberia International Film in London. In October of 2007 'The Zeppelin Bend' exhibition at Alsager Arts Centre, U.K explored the relationship between Stansbie's digital archive and her film based practice.
